More than 30 years ago, Larry Koester found himself trapped underneath a tractor. When rescue workers attempted to lift the tractor off of him, leaking gasoline caught fire, burning 42% of his body. Four months later, the 31-year-old husband and father was released from the hospital as a double amputee. As he struggled with depression, a simple statement from his 3-year-old daughter transformed his life, “Don’t cry, daddy. I love you even without your legs.”
