Summer is here, family road trips are upon us, and you are going to need lots of space to fit the whole gang. You’re in luck! The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas is VW’s largest stateside vehicle yet. I was able to drive the V6 SEL Premium trim package and it had everything I could ask for in a fullsize SUV and more.
Upon climbing into this ride I felt the spaciousness right away. Although the Atlas is large-and-on-charge, its size isn’t overwhelming. Cruising along the windy back roads of my home town, I felt completely in control of this behemoth. I didn’t have to worry about zooming by on-coming traffic on the narrow roads because it fit nicely into its lane. Let’s dive into the details about the car that will have you skipping off to a VW dealership in no time.
The V6 SEL Premium trim package features 4MOTION all-wheel drive that will help optimize traction by distributing power between the front and back wheels. If your looking for a ride that can handle rain, snow, or shine – this one will be just fine.
This baby has three rows of comfortable seats and the third is spacious enough to fit two adults! It even has heated seats for the first two rows and the driver seat has 10-way power with lumbar support. Don’t fret, if you need extra cargo space, the last row folds down flat.
A digital control panel houses safety features that you can customize depending on your driving preferences and road conditions. The SEL trim package has front assist, blind spot monitor, rear traffic alert, lane assist, park assist, adaptive cruise control, park pilot, and area view to keep you as safe on the road as possible.
The infotainment system is easy to use and blends nicely into the sleek design of the dashboard. The sound system is off the hook with Fender’s Premium Audio. They even get classy with the steering wheel that is leather-wrapped and heated for those chilly months.
This ride was built for the comfort of the whole family. The as-tested 2018 Atlas V6 SEL Premium with 4MOTION is ready to get your family traveling in luxury for around $49, 415. If that’s a little too high you can explore the many trim options that the Atlas has to offer with a base MSRP of $48, 490.
