This year at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Subaru revealed their first ever plug-in hybrid! The all-new Subaru Crosstrek plug-in hybrid will be arriving at dealerships at the end of this year. The new Crosstrek will feature retooled interior and exterior styling, but good looks aren’t the only benefit of this hybrid; it will qualify for the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) permit in states such as CA, MA, and NY.
Subaru StarDrive Technology
The 2019 hybrid will feature Subaru’s new StarDrive technology which integrates the electric motors, a 2.0-liter direct-injection SUBARU BOXER engine, Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, and a new Lineartronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). One of the electric motors is the engine’s starter and can function as a generator for the hybrid battery. The other motor will serve as the power hub for the hybrid and electric drive modes and will charge the battery through regenerative braking.
Regenerative Brakes
Speaking of regenerative brakes, the Crosstrek hybrid can go up to 65 MPH when in electric mode, but the really exciting part is when you slow down. Subaru has developed an electronically-controlled braking system that distributes force between the regenerative and mechanical brakes to improve fuel efficiency and extended battery life.
Off-road & Towing Capability
The 2019 Crosstrek Hybrid was built on Subaru’s Global Platform. It will come standard with the Linerartronic CVT features, X-MODE and Hill Descent Control, which enhance performance in off-road conditions. 8.7-inches of ground clearance make it easy to take this machine on many back road adventures. It will also be able to tow up to 1,000 pounds for added towing capability.
Exterior Styling
This versatile hybrid will be available in four eye-catching colors including Lagoon Blue Pearl. Signature blue headlight projector rings and a unique metallic finish on the front grill will turn heads from dusk until dawn. You’ll also be able to spy the “Plug-In Hybrid” patch on the back hatch door and fenders, as well as imprinted on the plug-in port door.
Interior Styling
Inside this beautiful machine, you’ll find the seats and door panels covered in one-of-a-kind, high-contrast gray and navy leather. The infotainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and features an 8-inch StarLink multimedia screen.
Convenient Technology
Automatic climate control, keyless entry, and a push-button start make starting your commute a breeze. Subaru’s standard all-weather package makes those cold winter months a little more tolerable; features include heated seats, windshield wiper de-icer, and heated exterior mirrors.
This efficient adventure-mobile will have a base price of $34,995 (not including destination and delivery). Explore more about the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid on Subaru.com
