[00:00:00] Brand New Ford Escape a Tough SUV
Ford recently debuted the next generation of Escape, and it’s very impressive! Executive Publisher for Kelley Blue Book, Autotrader, Dealer.com, Karl Brauer, visited the Ford’s design center near his office in Irvine, California to get an up close and personal look at this latest iteration and chat with the design manager in charge. The Ford Escape is their second best selling vehicle, behind the F-150, and their longevity as a Taxi and ridesharing vehicle is a testament to that. Now, there’s even more reason for those in the transportation industry to be excited: this generation of the Escape will see the return of one hybrid model, and the addition of another. Are you excited to get behind the wheel of the new Escape?
[00:06:24] New Features of the Ford Escape
Taxis in New York City are subjected to an unbelievable amount of wear and tear, so if Taxi Cab drivers vouch for the Ford Escape, that’s good enough for Alan! Executive Publisher for Kelley Blue Book, Autotrader, Dealer.com, Karl Brauer, tells us about some of the impressive new features that Ford has brought to the table in the Escape, like adjustable second row seating, and first-in-segment heads up display. Tune in for more details on the brand new Ford Escape.
[00:12:30] Ford GT News and Auto Industry Numbers
Executive Publisher for Kelley Blue Book, Autotrader, Dealer.com, Karl Brauer, is one of the lucky few who was approved for, and took delivery of, Ford’s newest supercar. In GT news, Ford finalized the allocations for the rest of the GT’s production run, so any approved hopefuls now know if they will be allowed to purchase this historic vehicle. Changing gears, Karl explains why any grumblings about the estimated 16.8 million units of sales in the automotive industry for 2019 are at least a little bit ridiculous. According to the Seasonally Adjusted Annual Rate of car sales, there is projected to be a decline from 2018 to 2019, but compared to 2010, it’s really no big deal. Are you worried by the 2019 SAAR forecast?
[00:19:51] Auto Shows Not Doomed as Journalists Say
As Alan’s 20 year anniversary appearance on LIVE with Kelly and Ryan for their Auto Week coverage of the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) draws near, we consider the health of auto shows in general. JoshCAR Hollywood Car Consultant, Josh Hancock, isn’t convinced that these auto expositions will be feeling significant shrinking pains anytime soon, as attendance numbers have not seen much decline. While journalistic enthusiasm about auto shows may be taking a hit, the bottom line is the public still wants to go see the cars. Are you excited for NYIAS?
[00:28:11] Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is Amazing
If you saw an Alfa Romeo out and about in public, would you know it? JoshCAR Hollywood Car Consultant, Josh Hancock, explains why you should get more familiar with the brand. He recently test drove the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio and it blew him away. Starting at $75,000, the Giulia Quadrifoglio makes 505-HP, 443 lb-ft of torque, and hits a top speed of 190 mph. This car toasts BMW M3s on the track, with out all the fuss and the noise. Learn why Josh call’s this car “the Italian Scalpel”.
[00:35:51] Vaughn Gittin Jr. at Galpin Ford Event
If you pay attention to the drift racing world, you’ve probably heard of Vaughn Gittin Jr. Recently, JoshCAR Hollywood Car Consultant, Josh Hancock, went to an event at Galpin Ford, where they had a small area set up for Vaughn Gittin Jr. Josh was amazed by the tricks Vaughn was able to pull off in a small, enclosed space, in his line of RTR Mustangs. Also at the event were six Ford GTs! Hear more about this enthusiast event put on by the largest Ford dealership by volume in the world.
[00:42:12] Michael Gelman Shares Debut Cars
It’s no secret that Alan will be appearing on ABC’s LIVE with Kelly and Ryan during the week leading up to the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). Here to give us some of the details is Guinness Book of World Records record holder for the most live television produced, and Executive Producer for LIVE with Kelly and Ryan, Michael Gelman. We learn about some big debuts, including an exciting new Ford Mustang, and the 50th anniversary Nissan 370Z. Tune in for more.
[00:47:43] Category Preview for Kelly and Ryan
Get ready for five days of world debuts on LIVE with Kelly and Ryan! Executive Producer for LIVE with Kelly and Ryan, Michael Gelman, gives us a break down of the cars (unveiled by Alan!) and guest stars we can expect to see on the show. Tune in for a glimpse of everything from the new Cadillac CTS, GMC Sierra Denali 1500, to Mark Hamill on LIVE, April 15th through the 19th.
[00:54:42] Ford: The Pioneer of Turbo 4 Cylinders
Back in the day, having a turbocharger on your 4-cylinder engine meant you’d have to let your car cooldown after driving it around town, or face possible engine damage! Thankfully, that’s a thing of the past, and we can thank Ford Motor Company, at least in part, for the pioneering of better turbo technology. Automotive journalist, BJ Killeen, pays respect to the Ford EcoBoost engine and the revolution it truly was. Thanks to their advancement, it is common place for manufacturers to be able to squeeze multiple hundreds of horsepower out of a 4-cylinder engine. Are you a fan of the Ford EcoBoost engine?
[01:02:03] Keep An Eye Out for These Cars on LIVE!
Did you know that Alan used to appear on a radio show with the one and only, Mark Hamill? Alan shares his excitement over getting to see Mark again during Auto Week on LIVE with Kelly and Ryan; but that’s not all he shares. We chat (and speculate) with automotive journalist, BJ Killeen, about the Ford Mustang, 50th anniversary Nissan 370Z, Toyota Supra, Mercedes-AMG CLA 35, Audi e-tron, Kia Soul,GMC Sierra Denali 1500, Jeep Gladiator, RAM Heavy Duty, and so much more. Don’t miss our LIVE with Kelly and Ryan pregame.
[01:12:46] DENSO Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide
Automotive journalist, BJ Killeen, got to go to the DENSO Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals this weekend, with British TV show, “Hitched in Vegas”, camera crew in tow. Three solid days of visceral, face melting horsepower was something the British camera crew had never experienced. Learn more about BJ’s weekend at the track, and why an NHRA drag race should be high on your bucket list.
[01:18:04] Kia Optima SX – Huge Bang for Your Buck
We’ve said it before, and we’ll keep saying it, Kia is unmatched in affordable quality. Automotive journalist, BJ Killeen, got to spend some time in the Kia Optima SX and was amazed by how quiet the ride was. Kia has been making use of more adhesive technology, and less welding, to achieve a new level of interior quiet and comfort. The SX model comes with a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 245-HP, and 260 lb-ft of torque, and starts comes in at $31,900. Buyers looking to save on this car can go with the base Kia Optima LX, which has a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine, starting at $22,090. With top-notch styling and interior design to boot, we challenge you to find any car that offers more bang for your buck. Learn more about this Kia Optima SX.
