[00:00:00] V8 Wrangler or 2021 Bronco You Decide

FCA has just announced their V8 powered Jeep Wrangler to fight back against the new Ford Bronco. Executive Publisher for KelleyBlue Book, Autotrader, and Dealer.com, Karl Brauer, is here to talk about what he thinks of the new Jeep and the new Bronco’s competition. FCA really knows how to make their vehicles perform, and a V8 Jeep Wrangler is an obvious addition to0 their fleet. Will a new option for a V8 in the Jeep Wrangler affect the sales of the 2021 Bronco? Let us know what you think.

[00:05:55] Ford Bronco Vs Jeep Wrangler

Ford knew that if they brought the Bronco back they would have to do a lot of work to compete with one of the only other vehicles on the market that compares – the Jeep Wrangler. Executive Publisher for KelleyBlue Book, Autotrader, and Dealer.com, Karl Brauer, says Ford asked for consumer feedback about their off-road vehicles and took their responses to heart. Ford put their customers’ expressed wants, needs, and more into the new Ford Bronco. Most of the problems people had with their off-roaders in the past are being addressed by manufacturers.

[00:12:30] How Affordable is the Ford Bronco?

The Ford Bronco sounds like an amazing vehicle but how much will it cost? Executive Publisher for KelleyBlue Book, Autotrader, and Dealer.com, Karl Brauer, says the two door Bronco will reportedly start at $29,000 base MSRP, which is a very impressive price range, but when you add up options you will likely end up with a $60,000 Bronco. Ford offers a Sasquatch option for the base model that will give you 35 inch tires and an off-road suspension for around $5,000. This provides you with a capable machine for around $35,000, and that’s a bargain!

[00:19:51] Who is the Bronco Sport Meant For?

Usually, car manufacturers don’t release multiple trim levels for a vehicle at the same time, but this time Ford did. Executive Publisher for KelleyBlue Book, Autotrader, and Dealer.com, Karl brauer explains one of the upgraded trim levels for the Ford Bronco, the Sport. Designed for everyday people, the Bronco Sport is a smaller, more maneuverable version. Besides being a commuter, the Bronco Sport has a very capable 4WD system, allowing it to still be a capable off-road vehicle for weekend warriors.

[00:28:43] The New Toyota RAV4 Hybrid

Executive Publisher for KelleyBlue Book, Autotrader, and Dealer.com, Karl Brauer, says the new Toyota RAV4 has 302 HP and gets a combined of 38 mpg. How can this be? Well, RAV4 has a hybrid engine, which means it has a traditional combustion engine assisted by electric motors. This allows for the vehicle to have power as well as economy. Without the electric motor assistance the RAV4 still has 550 miles of range and 38 mpg, which is very impressive for a vehicle it’s size; but it is one of the more expensive entries into its segment. The base model starts at $38,100 and it goes up to $47,000, but if you option it just right you can get $7500 of federal tax income credit.

[00:35:52] Tesla Stock Surpasses Toyota

Did you know that Tesla’s stock way out value’s Toyota’s stock? Why is this, especially seeing how Toyota is a profitable company that produces and sells millions of great cars every year? Executive Publisher for KelleyBlue Book, Autotrader, and Dealer.com, Karl Brauer, explains that Tesla is invested in as if it were a technology company, not a car manufacturer. Because investors see Tesla as a tech company, it is valued higher. Tesla’s stock keeps going up with no signs of stopping. If you bought a share 14 months ago for $200, you would have 7 times that value now.

[00:42:13] Alan’s Very Own Cars and Coffee

Everything car related around the world is being canceled, so Alan decided to host his very own Cars and Coffee event at the plaza he owns in small-town Oregon. Alan fills Retired Classic Car Expert, Dick Messer, in on the wide variety of cars ranging from a Viper ACR, to a Toyota Supra, all the way to a Grand National! Over 100 cars showed up during the course of the day and everyone had a great time. It really shows how desperate people are to get out!

[00:48:40] Use Car Market and Lincoln Continental

The demand for used cars is very high right now. Retired Classic Car Expert, Dick Messer, surmises that this increase in demand is due to the fact that new cars are just that much more expensive and people don’t want to make that level of commitment right now, even with 0% financing deals. Ford even has a deal which promises to take their vehicles back if the buyers lose their jobs within the next year. We also talk about the Ford Motor Company’s cancelation of the Lincoln Continental. Tune in to learn more.

[00:54:44] Car Auctions and Catching Up With Messer

We all miss the excitement of a great car auction. Retired Classic Car Expert, Dick Messer, and Alan chat about Mecum Auction Group’s bold move to actually hold their most recent auctions, while Barrett-Jackson and Leake Auctions hold out for better times. Dick prefers in person events, these online auctions and races just don’t do it for him. Changing gears, we catch up with Dick and find out which car he’s most recently sold out of his collection, and what books he’s reading.

[01:02:05] Racing Is Back, Car Market Rebounds

In the last segment, Retired Classic Car Expert, Dick Messer, revealed that he’s been reading “Legacy Of Justice”. We catch up with Justice Brothers, Inc. President and CEO, Ed Justice Jr., who authored that book, and he is happy to hear his old friend is reading it! Ed has been spending his time taking pictures during the COVID-19 pandemic, not of auto races unfortunately, but there is hope! IMSA, NASCAR, and IndyCar have all resumed their series in a limited capacity, but it is resumed. We also chat about the rebounding car market and what it’s like to be a service department industry.

[01:11:18] Jeep and Dodge Make Big Bold Moves

As we think about Jeep’s bold move to introduce a V8 powered version of the Jeep Wrangler, Justice Brothers, Inc. President and CEO, Ed Justice Jr., notices that other companies aren’t as bold as they used to be. Ford bringing back the Bronco and GM making a mid engine Corvette are somewhat bold, but not to the same level as slapping an 840 HP V8 engine into an over 20 year old chassis like Dodge did with their Demon. As they say, fortune favors the bold, and that’s why Dodge and Jeep are doing well today. Do you think Jeep and Dodge are bold players in the auto industry?

[01:18:06] You Just Can’t Beat a Jeep or a Dodge

Jeep owners are a very loyal group, for good reason. Justice Brothers, Inc. President and CEO, Ed Justice Jr., discusses the bold move made by Jeep to bring back the Gladiator and expresses just how hard he feels they nailed it with the iconic truck. We also ponder what exactly caused such a rapid change in design philosophy at FCA, Dodge, and Jeep to make them so bold.
