Firing up today’s show with us is Josh Hancock, JoshCAR Hollywood Car Consultant. We’re talking about the deal GM made with Nikola Motors and almost made a deal with Rivian Motors too. Ford announced an electric F-150 due to launch in 2022, Rivian and Bollinger are also coming out with electric trucks in 2021. Josh and Alan debate whether there will be a big shift to electric trucks. Alans shares his thoughts on the sound of a combustion engine and Josh talks about an electric Ferrari he drove with manufactured engine sounds added. Alan talks about the Mercedes Benz C63 S Coupe AMG that he drove. Joining in next is George Kennedy, Co-founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus, Boston Globe, and U.S. News & World Report. George and Alan discuss the Le Mans 24 hour race that has been taking place since the 1920s; George mentioned that if there is a new vehicle part to be tested this would be a great place to do it. They talk about Covid-19 delaying this race, and many others, as well as Steve McQueen wanting to race in the 24 hours of Le Mans but couldn’t get insured so he wasn’t able to race. Steve’s son, Chad, has tried hard to live up to his father’s reputation, which has almost cost him one of his legs in two separate racing accidents. George discusses the Mazda # AWD sedan he’s been driving and they both shared the opinion that Mazda is producing a luxury experience because their vehicles are so nice. Up next is Ed Justice Jr., Justice Brothers, Inc. President and CEO. They talk about the car made by Dale Cliff, called The Dale. It was a 3 wheel car with a motorcycle engine that got around 70mpg. The brochure for The Dale stole lines from other well-known car companies, and Liz Carmichael served prison time over false financial and manufacturing claims. Moving on to other interesting news, Ed and Alan discuss Jimmie Johnsons 2 year deal with Indy, touching on how dangerous the race is now and also Bubba Wallace changing race teams. They close out their time together discussing the financial aspects of the Indy races and how much money it costs to race, and also how more money doesn’t necessarily make them better. Last but not least we have BJ Killeen, Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason, joining us. BJ talks about the 2020 Volkswagen Passat she is test-driving and how impressive the gas mileage and range is on this vehicle. Alan shares his amazement with his son’s Volkswagen Jetta that has almost 100,000 miles on it and never one problem with it. They close out the show discussing the Nissan Z prototype car that was just unveiled. Alan shares that he really likes how the new design resembles the older generations, while BJ is not a fan of this look. Thanks for joining us and make sure to tune in to stay up to date on the latest automotive world news.
