Alan buckles in as he welcomes Amy Lerner with Blue Passport Productions. Lerner revs right in on how a midlife crisis got her into racing and now she is addicted. She goes on to say that the Gazelle Rally in Morrocco was her first win and has returned 4 times. The 2013 Australian Safari rally is where she won in her class as well as winning the Overall Production at the Dakar Rally. Amy goes onto share about the time where she had lunch with “some guy” she saw at the race, only to find out she was sitting with Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Famer, Rod Hall! Lerner takes her final lap in today’s show as she shares her experience on driving a 1982 Porsche 911 SC in the Dakar Classic, which is a new event that runs alongside the Dakar Rally as well as through the country of Saudi Arabia. Alan makes a quick pit stop to chat with Sue Mead – Automotive Journalist and author, off-road adventurer and racer. Sue shares of her time in Saudi Arabia and being a part of an all female racing team with Amy Lerner. She goes on to talk about her experience of being a team manager and giving support to Amy as well as the rest of the team. Alan then pick’s up George Kennedy III – Co-Founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus, Boston Globe, and U.S News & World Report. George buckle’s in and shares his thoughts on test driving the 2021 Land Rover Defender. With all its modern amenities, good wheel clearance, and just over all good handling, George concludes that this is what a Land Rover is. Alan takes his final lap with Brian Moody – Executive Editor for Autotrader.com. They talk about AutoTrader’s new list of best vehicles for 2021 and give brief reviews of certain vehicles. They go on to discuss Tesla, and it’s creator Elon Musk and how it is one of the most successful car companies on the planet.
