BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason starts the show off with Alan today. They dive into Motor Trend Truck of the year which goes to Rivian’s R1T. BJ’s favorite for a suggestive buy is the Ford F150 Lightening. Alan shares about his son’s 2021 Ford F150 Hybrid and his new purchase of a 2012 Duramax Diesel 1 ton King Cab. They discuss how it’s important to have a “gas” vehicle as back up. BJ shares that Lexus, Genesis, Volvo, and Jaguar will be going all electric. Biden announced a per vehicle tax to help pay for the grid due to the increase of electric vehicles. BJ believes that gas stations should conform to hydrogen fueling stations, that could possibly be the key. Up next is Kyle Petty – former NASCAR driver who turned racing analyst. He and Alan talk about the Charity Ride Across America, and how it raised $19 million. Kyle talks about he got to participate in judging a contest held my Maaco within their body shops. 12 paint jobs for Christmas. A holiday themed hood designed by their people. Kyle talks about NASCAR and how things are so different now and that the automotive industry has advanced so much due to technology. NASCAR is growing with the times. Briand Moody jumps on board next. What is black out versions asked Alan? Brian explains it as when people customize their car to everything black. From the chrome to the grill to the interior. Monochromatic!, says Alan. It’s a cool look, but do you want to be cleaning it all the time? They talk about the EV crate engines. You can have an electric motor made that sits into the footprint of different kind of cars with styling elements. Brian discusses the Best Tech of 2022. EV Crate Motors, the Hyundai Digital Key that allows you to use your smartphone as the key. It can even send a virtual key to someone who wants to borrow your vehicle as well as putting an expiration on it. The touch screen and navigation system for the passenger and LED lights for your classic car just to name a few. Closing the show today with Alan is Ed Bolian – Founder of VINwiki & Presenter of Car Trek. VINwiki is an app that is designed a crowd source vehicle history reporting platform. Ed is also a part of a show called Car Trek. It’s a Youtube based show that has Tyler Hoover from “Hoovies Garage” and Freddy “Tavarish” Hernandez from “Tavarish”. They turned beaters into beauties.
