Contributor and long-time friend, BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason start today’s show inquiring about Alan’s new automobile purchase, the 2005 Maserati Spyder Cambio Corsa. He couldn’t pass it up with only 11,000 original miles. What a steal for around $20,000. Next BJ shares that organizations such as Consumer Reports, AAA, JD Power, National Safety Council, and Society of Automotive Engineers, came up with a list of terms that they want every manufacturer to start using in regards to the ADAS (Advanced Driving Assistance Systems). The systems description or name changes with every manufacturer which leads to confusion for the consumers. BJ then shares that Lexus is coming out with a TX, a monstrous SUV. Dodge is also reintroducing the Hornet, which is going to be a crossover SUV hybrid. Ford is also coming out with the Ranger Raptor in 2023, as well as Rolls Royce’s introduction to their electric crossover in 2025. Kia will be introducing a 3 row, cross-electric vehicle by the end of the year. Up next is Steven Cole Smith – Automotive Journalist for Autoweek, Automobile Magazine, and Grassroots Motorsports. Steven shares that he has been driving a 2022 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate and says it has every option you can imagine. The only thing it’s missing is the park assist, due to the chip shortage. He says it’s a nice ride and the interior is quite lovely. He also test drove a 2023 Range Rover, and says out of all the Range Rovers he has driven, this has got to be the best. A wonderful vehicle with 9 drive modes, for anything you’re going to drive in, it will take care of you. Before Steven leaves, he shares that Sebastian Vettel, Formula One driver to Aston Martin is retiring at 35 to be a family man. He’s retiring with having 13 wins in one season. Alan welcomes Bob Broderdorf, Dodge Brand Director of Sales Operations, to announce the 7th annual Roadkill Nights, street legal racing event. It’s an iconic venue with incredible auto influencers and is expecting 40,000 plus attendees. Dodge is showcasing product reveals, such as what’s going on with the 2023 model year, performance programs, the new car for the gateway of muscle, and the future of muscle cars in an electrified world. Automobile personalities such as Tavarish, West Chaplain, Demonology, and Christina Roki to name a few, will be competing against Roadkill Nights champion, Alex Taylor. Dodge sent each racer a crate motor, paired up with a manual transmission, and they had to find their car to install it in. Vehicles such as a 69 ‘Cuda, a Magnum SXT, and a Lancer GT will be used in this 7th edition of Roadkill Nights. Bob says this is a brotherhood of muscle-heads and loads of fun. Lauren Fix – Editor-in-chief of Car Coach Reports joins Alan next as she shares what she’s been reading about the World Economic Forum, and what it is pushing for. Lauren has the impression they want consumers to give up their vehicles. Private ownership of vehicles is considered to be wasteful. The WEF is advocating communal sharing of cars to help lessen the global demand for precious metals and fossil fuels. “It’s all about money, power, and greed,” states Lauren. She goes on to share that electric vehicle tax credits are for individuals who make less than $300k a year and you have to have an electric vehicle that was manufactured in America as well as its battery. If you purchased a used electric vehicle you may apply for a $4000 tax credit. Closing the show with Alan is another long-time friend and contributor, George Kennedy III – Co-founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus. George has been driving the new 2023 Nissan Z. A 2 door performance coupe that he absolutely loves, and its affordable! It’s got a twin turbo, 3 liter, V6 that pushes 400 horsepower, with a nine speed automatic, rear wheel drive that takes corners with ease. George says “Nissan gets what people enjoy driving”. Well, that’s it for this episode. Join us on the next show as we bring more of what’s new and not so new in this wonderful automotive world.
